Arrive at Guwahati Airport or the designated meeting point. Meet your Trip Leader and fellow travellers who will be joining you for the week Make sure you have breakfast before 10 AM, as we will begin our drive to Shillong soon after. En route, stop at the beautiful Umiam Lake, where calm blue waters and rolling green hills make for the perfect first glimpse of Meghalaya. Take some time to stretch, click pictures, and soak in the view. Enjoy lunch on the way at a local eatery serving simple, hearty regional food. Reach Shillong, check in to your stay, and relax after the journey. If time allows, you can step out for a short walk around the neighbourhood and enjoy the cool mountain weather. Spend some free time exploring nearby cafés, local shops, or the charming streets of Shillong. Later in the afternoon, head to the Cherry Blossom Festival venue. Wake up to a fresh morning in Shillong and enjoy breakfast. Today, explore some of the scenic spots around Shillong, depending on time and local conditions. Expect a relaxed mix of viewpoints, short nature trails, quiet lakes, pine- covered stretches, and peaceful forest drives. The idea is to slow down, breathe in the mountain air, and enjoy Meghalaya’s natural beauty at an easy pace. You can take short walks, dip your feet in the water where possible, or simply sit back and enjoy the surroundings. Later, return to Shillong and get ready for Day 2 of the Cherry Blossom Festival. Spend the evening enjoying live music, lights, food, performances, and the festive energy of Shillong. Dance, discover new artists, and make the most of your final festival night. Have breakfast and begin your scenic drive towards Cherrapunjee. The route takes you through winding roads, misty valleys, and stunning mountain views. Visit Nohkalikai Falls, one of the most iconic waterfalls in Meghalaya, known for its dramatic plunge and turquoise pool below. Continue to Mawsmai Caves, a beautiful limestone cave system with narrow passages and fascinating natural formations. Spend the day exploring Meghalaya’s raw and dramatic landscapes. Later, check in to your stay in Cherrapunjee and relax. End the day with a warm dinner with the group. Spend the night chilling, stargazing, or sharing stories from the road.
Start early with breakfast and get ready for one of the most adventurous days of the trip. Drive to Tyrna Village, the starting point of the Nongriat trek. Begin the trek down nearly 3,000 steps through dense forests, village trails, and lush green surroundings. On the way, pass through Nongthymmai, where you can spot one of the longest living root bridges. Reach Nongriat and witness the iconic Double Decker Living Root Bridge. This natural wonder is a beautiful example of nature, time, and local Khasi wisdom coming together. Spend some time at the bridge, take pictures, rest, and enjoy the silence of the forest. After soaking in the experience, trek back to Tyrna. Return to your stay and end the day with a much-needed dinner and rest.
Have an early breakfast and check out from your stay. Begin your drive towards Dawki, one of Meghalaya’s most stunning river destinations. Visit the famous Umngot River, known for its crystal-clear water where boats often look like they are floating in the air. Enjoy a peaceful boating experience on the river. Those looking for extra adventure can try activities like zip-lining or cliff jumping, subject to availability and at their own cost. After lunch, continue towards Mawlynnong, popularly known as the cleanest village in Asia. Walk through its neat bamboo pathways, beautiful gardens, and peaceful village lanes. Wake up to your final morning in Meghalaya. Enjoy one last breakfast with your group. Freshen up, pack your bags, and check out from the stay. Begin the drive back to Guwahati.
