About the trip
Kedarnath” temple is devoted to lord “Shiva”. It means “Lord of the fields”. This temple holds a great importance for Shaivite sect. It’s the first amongst “Panch (five) Kedar” temples. Namely Tungnath, Rudranath, Madhyamaheshwar & Kalpeshwar. “Kedarnath temple” is also part of “Chota char dham” which comprises of Badrinath, Gangotri & Yamunotri. It is also a part of twelve Jyotirlingas which are all across the India. All “Panch Kedar” temples are located in Garhwal Himalayas. Location of these temples are given in map below. History of temple: Pandavas defeated their cousins Kauravas in the epic war of Mahabharata. But, at the cost of killing the gotra & brahmanas. For self-mortification they left their kingdom & went in search of lord Shiva. First they reached Varanasi or Kashi which is one of the favourite city of Shiva. But, Shiva was deeply hurt by dishonesty of Kurushtetra war so, he was insensative to Pandavas prayers. He assumed the form of Bull (Nandi) & disappeared in Garhwal Himalayas. When Pandavas reached Garhwal region Bhima one of the five Pandavas saw the Nandi in “Guptkashi” region. “Guptkashi” means hidden kashi or Shiva.

Reporting & travel to Phata
Reporting at Haridwar Railway station by 8AM. Journey will start post registration. By private vehicle we will reach to "Guptkashi." This place holds sacred importance as Shiva in the form of Bull was hiding from Pandavas at this place. We will reach our stay location by late afternoon.Stay will be arranged in Mountain Explorers green view homestay. Dual & triple occupancy as per the group size. Explore the nearby areas & dinner will be served by 7AM. Relax in your room as next day will begin early. Meal: Dinner
Trek to Kedarnath via Sonprayag & GauriKund
Trek distance: 16 Kms Get up early, freshen up & have your breakfast. Collect your packlunch & we will depart for Sonprayag. After registration at Sonprayag, you will be transferred to GauriKund by governent vehicle. From here trek for Kedarnath temple begins. It will take 6 to 7 hrs to reach the temple. Tent stay will be arranged near temple. If you need room stay near temple then difference of payment can be done on the spot. Meal: Breakfast & Pack lunch
Back to Phata homestay
Get up early as temple opens at 7AM. You will attend morning prayer at temple & will visit Meditation cave one & half kms away from temple. Then after breakfast pack lunch will be given & you descend to Guptkashi for stay. Dinner will be served at night. Meal: Dinner
Back to Haridwar via Rudraprayag
After breakfast depart for Haridwar by private vehicle. On the way visit to Rudraprayag where Alakhnanda river meets Mandakini river of Kedarnath. Also visit Devprayag where holy Ganga river originates. Reach Rishikesh by 6PM. Attend Ganga aarti at 7PM on Triveni ghat. Group breaks with sweet memories Meal: Breakfast
