Itinerary
We start our journey via road towards Shimla in the evening from Delhi. Reporting at ISBT Kashmiri Gate, Delhi at approx. 9:00 PM. Overnight joueney in Semi Sleeper AC Bus.
Post an overnight journey from Delhi, arrive at Shimla in the morning. Pick up from ISBT (Bud Stop) Shimla by Tempo Traveller / Taxi Vehicle. Begin your journey from Shimla, enjoy breakfast on the way. Drive past Kufri and Narkanda along the Indo-Tibetan Highway. Cross the iconic Kinnaur Gate a gateway to the Kinnaur Valley. Enjoy scenic views of the Kinnaur Kailash Range and Sangla Valley. Arrive at Chitkul / Sangla and settle in for the night. Chitkul & Sangla are good place for stargazing at night. Breakfast & Dinner included.
Experience village life and snow-covered mountains in Chitkul. Begin your journey towards Tabo after breakfast. Drive along the roads passing near the India-Tibet border. Visit Khab Sangam, the confluence of the Spiti and Sutlej rivers (the Sutlej originates from Mansarovar Lake in Tibet). Then continue towards Nako Lake, a high-altitude Himalayan lake at Nako Village. Officially step into Spiti Valley today and arrive at Tabo by evening. Overnight stay in a homestay at Tabo. Breakfast & Dinner included.
After breakfast, head to explore the ancient Tabo Monastery. Explore Tabo Monastery - over 1,000 years old, known for its ancient wall paintings, mud statues, and a surreal 360° view of the sky. After exploring Tabo Village, head to Dhankar Village. Visit Dhankar Monastery, perched on a cliff with stunning views of the Spiti - Pin River Confluence. After the visit, drive to Kaza - the headquarters of Spiti Valley. Spend leisure time or explore markets and cafes in Kaza. Night stay in a homestay at Kaza. Breakfast & Dinner included.
After breakfast, we head out to explore the top attractions of Spiti Valley. First, we start with Key Monastery, the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Spiti and an important training centre for young lamas. Then we drive up to Hikkim. It is known for the World’s Highest Post Office (14,400 ft). Travellers can send postcards to their loved ones from here. We then visit Komic, home to Komic Gompa and counted among the World’s Highest Motorable Villages at around 15,050 ft. We continue to Langza, famous for its massive Buddha statue (approx. 14,300 ft) overlooking the Spiti Valley. Langza village is also rich in fossils of marine animals and plants. Return to Kaza by evening and explore the town at your own pace. Overnight stay at a homestay in Kaza. Breakfast & Dinner included.
In the morning, we check out from the property and begin the day exploring more Spiti Valley attractions. We visit the iconic Chicham Bridge, Asia’s highest bridge, offering thrilling views of deep gorges below. We drive through the Kibber region on this day and on this route you might spot wildlife of Spiti. On this day, we cross Kunzum Pass, The Highest Pass in Spiti Valley (14,931 ft). Arrival at the parking spot near Chandra Taal Lake. From here, the lake is approx. 1 km walking distance. Visit the iconic Chandratal Lake. This lake is also known as the Moon Lake, and as traveller’s paradise. After spending time at Chandratal Lake, we drive to the campsite and check in at camps for good rest. This place is considered among the best spots in India for stargazing and Milky Way spotting due to its high altitude, remote location, and extremely low light pollution. Overnight stay in camps. Breakfast & Dinner included. NOTE: Chandra Taal Lake usually opens by the end of May, depending on weather and road conditions. If the lake is inaccessible or due to unforeseen circumstances, the stay will be in Kaza, and the journey will continue via Kalpa and Shimla.
We wake up early and spend some peaceful time at the campsite at Chandra Taal, soaking in the calm high-altitude surroundings. After breakfast, we begin our drive towards Manali via Chhatru. During this drive, we pass through many offroading patches and water crossings. Take a quick stop at Chacha Chachi (Chandra Dhaba) near Baltal for refreshing lunch break. We drive through the iconic Atal Tunnel, a marvel of engineering that connects Lahaul to Manali. By evening, we arrive in Manali and check in at the property for rest. Overnight stay at Hotel in Manali. Breakfast & Dinner included.
This day is dedicated to experiencing the best of Manali. We start the day after check-out with adrenaline-filled adventure activities like Paragliding and River Rafting (subject to weather and availability). Then we visit the iconic Hadimba Devi Temple. We spend time shopping and cafe-hopping at Manali Mall Road and Old Manali. One can do a short hike to Jogini Waterfall by oneself. or do a bike ride to Sissu or Kasol village. In the evening, board return bus from Manali Volvo pickup point. Overnight journey towards Delhi. Breakfast included.
Upon arriving in Delhi, disperse and conclude this wonderful journey with lots of memories, thrilling experiences, photos, videos, and new friends.
